May 29: The treatment of Patriot prisoners by British Colonel Banastre Tarleton and his Loyalist troops coins the phrase,
“Tarleton’s Quarter”, which defines British brutality for the rest of the War for Independence.

May 15: Major Andrew Maxwell, commander of a loyalist force, surrenders a fortified frame building, named "Fort
Granby," to a Patriot force in South Carolina.
May 22: Major General Nathanael Greene and 1,000 Patriots attempt an attack on the critical village of Ninety-Six in the
South Carolina backcountry.
September 28: American forces begin the siege on Yorktown Heights, VA during the Revolutionary War.
