NAVY PERSONNEL - The 115 personnel listed here are the only Navy and Coast Guard casualties that have been officially identified so far. Please say a prayer for all of them and another prayer in hopes that more names are not added here later.

  Died March 22, 2003 when two Royal Navy Sea King helicopters collided over international waters. He was assigned as an exchange officer with the Royal Navy's 849 Squadron. The squadron's detachment was embarked on the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal.
• Alday, Zachary M. SA, 22, Donalsonville, GA (542-06)
  Died June 9, 2006 from injuries sustained when the vehicle in which he was riding struck a land mine. His unit was conducting combat operations against enemy forces in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 7th Regimental Combat Team, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), Camp Pendleton, CA.
• Alomar, Joseph D. PO2, 22, Brooklyn, NY (061-07)
  Died January 17, 2007 from injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident at Camp Bucca, Iraq. He was assigned to the Navy Provisional Detention Battalion.
• Anderson, Christopher A. HM, 24, Longmont, CO (1240-06)
  Died December 4, 2006 from injuries sustained as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, Camp Lejeune, NC.
• Anderson, Michael C. PO2, 36, Daytona, FL (414-04)
  One of five sailors who died May 2, 2004 in the Al Anbar Province as a result of hostile fire. He was assigned to the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, Jacksonville, FL.
• Axelson, Matthew G. PO2, 29, Cupertino, CA (699-05)
  Died on/about July 10, 2005 while conducting counter-terrorism operations in Kunar province, Afghanistan. Coalition forces located the service member while conducting a combat search and rescue operation July 10, 2005 in Kunar province. He was assigned to the SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team ONE, Pearl Harbor, HI.
• Babcock, IV, Howard E. PO1, 33, Houston, TX (1135-05)
  Died October 31, 2005 as a result of a motorcycle accident in Bahrain. He was assigned to the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station in Bahrain.
• Baez, Cesar O. PO2, 37, Pomona, CA (613-05)
  Died June 15, 2005 as a result of enemy small arms fire while conducting combat operations in al-Anbar province, Iraq. He was a Hospital Corpsman assigned to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
• Baldwin, Joel Egan CPO, 37, Arlington, VA (1321-04)
  Died December 21, 2004 when the dining facility was attacked in Mosul, Iraq. He was assigned to the Navy Mobile Construction Battalion 77, Gulfport, MS.
• Bewley, Kevin R. PO2, 27, Hector, AR (1287-07)
  Died November 5, 2007 of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was conducting operations in Salah ad Din province, Iraq. He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 11, Oak Harbor, WA.
• Billiter, Gregory J. CPO, 36, Villa Hills, KY (404-07)
  One of three sailors who died April 6, 2007 of wounds suffered from enemy action while conducting combat operations near Kirkuk, Iraq. He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit Eleven, Whidbey Island, WA.
• Bollinger, Jr., Doyle W. PO3, 21, Poteau, OK (398-03)
  Died June 6, 2003 when a piece of unexploded ordnance accidentally detonated in the area he was working. He was assigned to the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133, Gulfport, MS.
• Bourgeois, Matthew J. CPO, 35, Tallahassee, FL (154-02)
  Died March 27, 2002 of unspecified wounds received while conducting small unit training at a remote site near Qandahar, Afghanistan. He was a Navy SEAL assigned to Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base, VA.
• Briones, Jr., Pablito Pena SN, 22, Anaheim, CA (1331-04)
  Died December 28, 2004 of a non-hostile gun shot wound in Fallujah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Marine Division Detachment, Naval Medical Center San Diego.
• Brown, Menelek M. PO2, 24, Roswell, NM (0017-08)
  Died January 3, 2008 after apparently going overboard from the USS Hopper in the Arabian Sea. Navy aircraft and ships conducted an extensive search but did not locate him and he was declared dead on January 4, 2008. The USS Hopper is homeported in Pearl Harbor, HI.
• Bruckenthal, Nathan B. PO3, 24, Smithtown, NY (370-04)
  A coast guardsman who died, with two sailors, April 24, 2004 in the Northern Persian Gulf as a result of a waterborne attack. He was assigned to Tactical Law Enforcement Team South Detachment 403.
• Camacho, Anamarie Sannicolas SM, 20, Panama City, FL (1243-07)
  One of two sailors who died October 22, 2007 of injuries received in Bahrain during a non-combat related incident. She held the Master-at-Arms rating and was assigned to US Naval Support Activity Bahrain.
• Cannon, Mark R. PO3, 31, Lubbock, TX (1186-07)
  Died October 2, 2007 of unspecified causes while conducting combat operations in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. He was a hospital corpsman assigned to the 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, HI.
• Carter, Mark T. CPO, 27, Fallbrook, CA (1404-07)
  Died December 11, 2007 of unspecified injuries as a result of enemy action while conducting combat operations in Iraq. He was permanently assigned as an East Coast-based Navy SEAL.
• Cedergren, David A. PO3, 25, South St. Paul, MN (896-04)
  Died September 11, 2004 near Iskandariayah, Iraq, in a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 2nd Marine Division Fleet Marine Forces Atlantic.
• Chaney, Jeffrey L. PO1, 35, Omaha, NE (896-07)
  One of two sailors who died July 17, 2007 from injuries sustained as a result of enemy action while conducting combat operations in Salah Ad Din Province, Iraq. He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Eleven, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA.
• Clark, Regina R. PO1, 43, Centralia, WA (651-05)
  Died June 23, 2005 in a convoy that was attacked by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device in Fallujah. She was a culinary specialist deployed with Naval Construction Region Detachment 30, Port Hueneme, CA and was temporarily assigned to II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
• Conte, Matthew G. HM, 22, Mogadore, OH (125-07)
  Died February 1, 2007 of injuries received while his unit was conducting combat operations against enemy forces in the Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Kaneohe Bay, HI serving as a hospital corpsman under the command of I Marine Expeditionary Force (forward).
• Cundanga Espiritu, Allan M. PO2, 28, Oxnard, CA (1143-05)
  Died November 1, 2005 from an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations in the vicinity of Ar Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to 2nd Force Service Support Group (Forward), II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
• Darga, Paul J. CPO, 34, Lansing, MI (808-06)
  Died August 22, 2006 when his Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team was struck by an improvised explosive device while responding to a previous strike. His unit was conducting combat operations against enemy forces in the Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Two, Norfolk, VA and was serving with the 1st Marine Logistics Group.
• Daugherty, Steven Phillip PO1, 28, Barstow, CA (840-07)
  One of three sailors who died July 6, 2007 from injuries sustained as a result of enemy action while conducting combat operations in the vicinity of Baghdad, Iraq. He was assigned to an East Coast-based SEAL team.
• Davis, Bryant L. MM2, 20, Chicago, IL (577-01)
  Died November 7, 2001 as a result of drowning after falling overboard from the USS Kitty Hawk. Search and rescue efforts continued for more than two days before being halted.
• Deal, Lee Hamilton PO3, 23, West Monroe, LA (465-06)
  Died May 17, 2006 as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was operationally assigned to the Regimental Combat Team-5, I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), and permanently assigned to 2nd Marine Division Fleet Marine Force Atlantic, Camp Lejeune, NC.
• Dickerson, Christopher M. PO3, 33, Eastman, GA (398-04 )
  One of two sailors who died April 30, 2004 in Al Anbar province, Iraq when his military vehicle hit an improvised explosive device while traveling in a convoy. He was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, based in Jacksonville, FL.
• Dietz, Danny P. PO2, 25, Littleton, CO (683-05)
  One of two sailors who died July 4, 2005 while conducting counter-terrorism operations in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Coalition forces located the service member while conducting a combat search and rescue operation in Kunar Province. His whereabouts had been unknown since June 28, 2005. He was assigned to the SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team Two, Virginia Beach, VA.

  One of five sailors who died May 2, 2004 in the Al Anbar Province as a result of hostile fire. He was assigned to the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, Jacksonville, FL.
• Dwelley, Jason B. PO2, 31, Apopka, FL (398-04 )
  One of two sailors who died April 30, 2004 in Al Anbar province, Iraq when his military vehicle hit an improvised explosive device while traveling in a convoy. He was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, based in Jacksonville, FL.
• Emch, Lucas W.A. HM, 21, Kent, OH (247-07)
  Died March 2, 2007 when an Improvised Explosive Device detonated in his vicinity while conducting combat operations in Al-Anbar Province, Iraq. He was a hospital corpsman assigned to 1st Marine Logistics Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA.
• Fontan, Jacques J. CPO, 36, New Orleans, LA (671-05)
  One of eight sailors and eight Soldiers who died June 28, 2005 while conducting combat operations when the MH-47 helicopter that he was aboard crashed in the vicinity of Asadabad, Afghanistan in Kumar Province. He was assigned to SEAL Team Ten, Virginia Beach, VA.
• Fralish, John T. PO3, 30, New Kingstown, PA (118-06)
  Died February 6, 2006 when enemy forces opened fire on a U.S. patrol northwest of Methar Lam in Laghman Province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division Detachment, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe, HI.
• Ginther, Ronald A. PO3, 37, Auburndale, FL (414-04)
  One of five sailors who died May 2, 2004 in the Al Anbar Province as a result of hostile fire. He was assigned to the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, Jacksonville, FL.
• Grant, Sandra S. SM, 23, Linwood, NC (100-07)
  Died December 31, 2006 in the Arabian Sea from natural causes. She was assigned to the USS Eisenhower.
• Gray, Michael J. PO2, 32, Richmond, VA (158-04)
  Died March 5, 2004 as a result of an automobile accident. While traveling to Kuwait Navy Base, his vehicle was struck from the rear by a civilian vehicle. He was assigned to Navy Detachment Kuwait Navy Base.

  One of two sailors who died October 22, 2007 of injuries received in Bahrain during a non-combat related incident. She held the Master-at-Arms rating and was assigned to US Naval Support Activity Bahrain.

  One of three sailors who died April 6, 2007 of wounds suffered from enemy action while conducting combat operations near Kirkuk, Iraq. He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit Eleven, Whidbey Island, WA.

  Died August 2, 2005 on board the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz in the Arabian Gulf after being medically evacuated to the carrier for a non-combat related incident. He was an operations specialist assigned to the USS Princeton, homeported in San Diego, CA.

  Died January 29, 2005 in a non-combat related incident aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard. He was assigned to the Destroyer Squadron Seven, home ported in San Diego, CA.
• Jaenke, Jaime S. PO2, 29, Bay City, WI (524-06)
  One of two sailors who died June 5, 2006 as a result of enemy action when her HMMWV was struck by an improvised explosive device in Al Anbar province, Iraq. She was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 25, Fort McCoy, WI.

  Died February 12, 2007 of apparent natural causes while deployed aboard the multipurpose amphibious assault ship the USS Bataan. She was a Navy master-at-arms supporting operations off the Horn of Africa aboard the USS Bataan.

  Died December 24, 2007 of injuries suffered during a vehicular accident in Kuwait. He was permanently assigned to the Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group, Kuwait.

  Died October 8, 2003 of non-combat related injuries in Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates. He was assigned to USS Higgins, home ported in San Diego, CA.

  Died August 21, 2003 as a result of being shot by an unidentified gunman in Al Hillah, Iraq. He was on temporary duty with the I Marine Expeditionary Force.
• Joplin, Brian K. PO2, 32, Hugo, OK (1013-05)
  Died October 4, 2005 when he fell out of a MH-53 helicopter during a regularly scheduled training mission in the Central Arabian Gulf. He was assigned to Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 15, based in Corpus Christi, TX.

  Died January 13, 2006 in an automobile accident in Manama, Bahrain. He was assigned to Destroyer Squadron 50, Bahrain.

  Died April 23, 2005 from an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations near Fallujah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), Camp Lejeune, NC.

  Died August 20, 2006 of injuries suffered when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in the Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to the 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, CA.

  Died July 26, 2006 at Camp Victory, Iraq after ordnance exploded during a disposal operation. He was assigned to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Eight, serving with Multinational Corps Iraq in Baghdad.

  Died September 19, 2006 in Bahrain from natural causes. She was assigned to Naval Branch Health Clinic, Bahrain.

  Died August 2, 2006 during combat operations while on patrol in Ramadi, Iraq. He was an aviation ordnanceman and a member of a West Coast-based SEAL Team.

  One of three sailors who died July 6, 2007 from injuries sustained as a result of enemy action while conducting combat operations in the vicinity of Baghdad, Iraq. He was assigned to an East Coast-based SEAL team.

  One of eight sailors and eight Soldiers who died June 28, 2005 while conducting combat operations when the MH-47 helicopter that he was aboard crashed in the vicinity of Asadabad, Afghanistan in Kumar Province. He was assigned to SEAL Team Ten, Virginia Beach, VA.
• Macrum, Robert D. SA, 22, Sugarland, TX (986-05)
  Died September 12, 2005 when he was lost at sea. He was last seen that evening while the ship was underway. He was assigned to the USS Princeton, currently deployed to the Arabian Gulf conducting maritime security operations as part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group.

  Died September 6, 2005 from injuries sustained as a passenger when his HMMWV rolled over in Al Qaim, Iraq. He was assigned to II Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC.

  Died March 9, 2005 in a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the Underwater Construction Team One (UCT-1) under operational control of Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command.

  Died July 17, 2003 in Al Hamishiyah, Iraq from a non-hostile gunshot wound. He was assigned to the Naval Medical Center San Diego, Fourth Marine Division Detachment.

  Died October 14, 2005 in a single-vehicle accident in Manda Bay, Kenya. He was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 3, Port Hueneme, CA and was deployed as part of a Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa construction team.

  One of two sailors who died July 4, 2005 while conducting counter-terrorism operations in Kunar Province, Afghanistan.   Died April 7, 2007 of wounds suffered as a result of enemy action in the vicinity of Baghdad. He was operationally assigned to Joint Contracting Command, Multi-National Force - Iraq and was deployed from his permanently assigned command of Naval Inventory Control Point, Mechanicsburg, PA.
• Napper, Roger A. PO3, 20, Greensburg, PA (100-07)
  Died October 7, 2006 in Bahrain from trauma received in a single motor vehicle accident. He was assigned to Mobile Security Squadron Three, Detachment Bahrain.
• Nettles, Marcques J. PO3, 22, Beaverton, OR (341-06)
  Died April 2, 2006, along with seven marines, when the truck he was riding in rolled over in a flash flood near Al Asad, Iraq. He was previously listed as Duty Status - Whereabouts Unknown. His body was recovered April 16, 2006. He was assigned to the 1st Combat Logistics Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA.
• Noble, Daniel S. HM, 21, Whittier, CA (924-07)
  Died July 24, 2007 as a result of enemy action while conducting security operations in the Dilaya Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force Pacific, Camp Pendleton, CA.

  Died April 2, 2006 as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was permanently assigned to Bethesda Naval Hospital, USNS Comfort Detachment and operationally assigned to Third Battalion, Eighth Marine Regiment, 2/28 Brigade Combat Team.

  One of eight sailors and eight Soldiers who died June 28, 2005 while conducting combat operations when the MH-47 helicopter that he was aboard crashed in the vicinity of Asadabad, Afghanistan in Kumar Province. He was assigned to SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team One, Pearl Harbor, HI.

  One of two sailors and a coast guardsman who died April 24, 2004 in the Northern Persian Gulf as a result of a waterborne attack. He was assigned to the USS Firebolt, forward deployed to Manama, Bahrain.

  Died March 17, 2003 of a non-combat related injury while in the Red Sea. He was assigned to the USS Deyo, home ported in Norfolk, VA.
• Retzer, Thomas E. IC3, 30, San Diego, CA (460-03)
  Died June 27, 2003 of wounds received July 25, 2003 as a result of combat action in Afghanistan. He was assigned to SEAL Team 2, Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base, VA.
• Roberts, Neil C. PO1, 32, Woodland, CA (101-02)
  Died, with four Soldiers and two airmen, March 4, 2002 of unspecified injuries during Operation Anaconda. He was an Aviation Boatswain's Mate-Handling assigned to the Naval Special Warfare Development Group.
• Roddy, David S. PO2, 32, Aberdeen, MS (917-06)
  Died September 16, 2006 while his unit was conducting combat operations against enemy forces in the Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Two, Norfolk, VA and was serving with Multi-National Corps - Iraq.
• Rovinski, Gary T. PO1, 44, Roseville, IL (515-06)
  One of two sailors who died June 5, 2006 in Al Anbar Province, Iraq as a result of enemy action when his HMMWV was struck by an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 25, Fort McCoy, WI.

  Died April 6, 2007 as a result of injuries sustained from enemy action while conducting combat operations in the Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to East Coast Navy SEAL Team.

  Died September 4, 2006 from injuries sustained while his unit was conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was serving as a corpsman with Multi National Corps Iraq while he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 24th Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Bridgetown, MO.

  Died February 12, 2006 as a result of an improvised explosive device in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Three, based in San Diego, CA.

  Died November 10, 2004 as a result of hostile fire in Fallujah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division Detachment, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaheohe Bay, HI.
• Youngblood, Travis L. PO3, 26, Surrency, GA (749-05)
  Died July 21, 2005 of wounds received July 15, 2005 from an improvised explosive device during combat operations in Hit, Iraq. He was a hospital corpsman assigned to Naval Hospital Great Lakes, Great Lakes, IL and deployed with the II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
