Mr. Crawford didn't write "Hey!"; he actually wrote "SHOUT!" and he did not specify the word to be shouted. Additionally, all the words "U.S. Air Force" were originally written as "Army Air Corps." Finally, the words in parentheses are spoken, not sung.

No one knows who wrote the Marines' Hymn, but it has been in widespread use since the mid-1800s. Because aircraft were being used more and more within the Corps by November 1942, the words in the first verse, fourth line, were changed to "In the air, on land, and sea."

Francis Scott Key wrote "The Star-Spangled Banner" poem to match the meter of "To Anacreon in Heaven", an English Song, creating "The Star-Spangled Banner" song. The song became the official national anthem of the United States in 1931 when legislation was enacted by Congress.
